Srinagar, December 03 (KNO) : Hurriyat Conference (M) Monday lashed out the authorities for confining Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of the amalgam, to his house and thereby barring him from carrying out social, religious and political responsibilities. Hurriyat (M) in a statement issued to KNO also condemned the crackdown on entire resistance camp terming it as ‘a frustration and the absolute authoritarian mindset of the rulers’. It strongly condemned the ‘ultimate repression’ being unleashed on the freedom loving people of Kashmir and stated that the human rights violations have touched new heights in Kashmir while as ‘state oppression’ was at its peak these days only to muzzle the people’s movement for right to self determination through military might and iron fist policy. The spokesman said that “caging the resistance leaders in their homes is nothing new, but of late such moves have gained speed to restrict the movement of pro-freedom leadership and to disallow them from raising voice against the unabated rights abuses being committed by the lakhs of forces in Kashmir.” “By resorting to ultimate repressive measures, the spokesman said that the authorities want to create a graveyard like silence in Kashmir by crushing every single voice raised against the oppression,” he said. The spokesman said that owing to the continuous house detention of Mirwaiz, a crucial review meeting of Darul-Khair Mirwaiz Manzil could not materialize. He said Darul-Khair is a charity organization, meant for helping poor, needy and destitute. “A crucial meeting of members of Dar-ul-Khair was scheduled to be held at Mirwaiz Manzil Nigeen, but the police didn’t allow the meeting to take place which is highly deplorable,” he said. Meanwhile, Hurriyat (M) spokesman strongly condemned the arrest of senior Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza who was proceeding towards Kulgam to express solidarity with the families of slain persons in connection with the Human Rights Week. The spokesman said that by caging the resistance leadership, the rulers can’t break their resolve and the commitment towards the Kashmir struggle.(KNO)
